How to style white and neutral wedding flowers. Want to know how to stop a neutral colour palette looking plain and boring? Read about my lovely Bride Ava and her cool, modern neutral wedding.
Neutral weddings can sometimes feel a little safe or even dull — but not Ava’s. Her wedding was a stunning example of how a neutral colour palette can be anything but boring when you bring in thoughtful design, modern shapes, and a few unexpected details.

Neutral coloured wedding flower choice
For Ava’s wedding, I leaned into my signature blooms: reflexed roses and elegant phalaenopsis orchids. These flowers bring a luxe, sculptural feel on their own, perfect for a modern bride. Ava also wanted a touch of gypsophila, but only in her bridal bouquet — a delicate detail that set it apart from the bridesmaids’ bouquets and made her bouquet feel truly special.
One thing I deliberately avoided? Greenery. You might think a bit of foliage would soften the look, but actually, keeping the florals free of greenery helped avoid the traditional wedding vibe Ava wanted to steer clear of.
Adding a pop with Ribbon
How to style white and neutral wedding flowers. To add just a subtle pop of colour and a personal touch, I wrapped Ava’s bouquet with a beautiful blue ribbon. This little splash of colour breaks up the neutral tones without overpowering them, tying in beautifully with the overall modern aesthetic.
Bouquet shape
Ava was drawn to bold, modern shapes — no neat, traditional round bouquets for her. Instead, we created a sculptural, asymmetrical design with flowers positioned at varying heights and plenty of negative space. This dynamic arrangement gives the bouquet a contemporary edge and makes a real statement against the pared-back colour palette.
Her bridesmaids’ bouquets had a contrasting vibe — more heart-shaped and structured, reflecting a modern take that was clean and polished rather than flowy or wild.
Elevate by pairing back ingredients
How do you elevate a neutral look and make it feel fresh? The secret lies in restraint. By pairing back the ingredients — no greenery, no tiny filler roses — the design feels sophisticated and modern.
This minimalist approach extended to the buttonholes and corsages as well, which were sleek and contemporary with no traditional elements, perfectly complementing the bridal party’s look.
Modern buttonholes + corsages

The outcome was perfect and only improved by the fact that Ava’s fit was a dream and shes completely gorgeous!!
